KANYE WEST
Kanye Omari West was on born June 8, 1977. He is a six-time Grammy Award-winning producer and rapper. Though he did quite a bit of noteworthy production work during the late '90s, it was his work for Roc-a-Fella that took his career to the next level. He first caught everyone attention in 2001 when he produced “Takeover" and "Izzo" for Jay-Z's Blueprint album. More high-profile productions followed, and West decided to release an album of his own. Unfortunately, that album was pushed back. In 2002, West experienced a tragic car accident that almost cost him his life. He capitalized on the experience by using it as the inspiration for the single, "Through the Wire” which would become the lead single for his debut album, “The College Dropout” in 2004. West earned ten nominations at the Grammy Awards in 2005 and won three awards for his album and his songwriting. In 2005, he also released his second solo album, “Late Registration,” which met with enormous success, and hit the top of the charts. West also won three Grammy Awards after being nominated for eight. That same year, the live album “Late Orchestration: Live at Abbey Road Studios” found West performing his hits with a 17-piece string orchestra. The album and DVD were only released in Europe.
