CHRISTINA AGUILERA
Christina María Aguilera is a singer and songwriter. She was born on December 18, 1980 in Staten Island, NY of Irish and Ecuadorian parents. During her childhood, her father's military career moved the family many times before they settled in Pittsburgh, PA. Aguilera performed in talent shows and appeared on Star Search in 1988. In 1992, she joined Disney Channel's “The New Mickey Mouse Club.” Unlike many of her equals, Aguilera was a technically skilled singer with a powerful voice. After two years, Aguilera moved to Japan, where she recorded the hit duet "All I Wanna Do" with Keizo Nakanishi. In 1998, she returned to the U.S. and recorded the song "Reflection" for Disney's Mulan and signed with RCA. Her pop influenced debut album “Christina Aguilera” in 1999 was a commercial success. It produced four hit singles and helped Aguilera win a Grammy Award. In September 2000, Aguilera recorded a Spanish-language album called “Mi Reflejo,” which was followed by “My Kind of Christmas.” Both albums sold extremely well and in 2001, she participated in the “Moulin Rouge!” soundtrack. In 2002, Aguilera released “Stripped”, which produced "Dirrty" and the award-winning "Beautiful". It received mixed reviews, and Aguilera's sexual image caused controversy. In 2005, she married record executive Jordan Bratman. In 2006, she released "Back to Basics," which debuted at number one on the charts. It included elements of soul, jazz and blues and portrayed a mature yet provocative singer.
