NICKELBACK
Nickelback is a post-grunge hard rock band formed in Hanna, Alberta, Canada in 1995 by Chad Kroeger, Mike Kroeger and Ryan Vikedal. They started as a cover band and then put together a collection of original songs. They released the EP “Hesher “and full-length “Curb” independently. They then embarked on a series of cross-country tours. A second LP, “The State,” was released independently in January 2000. The band than toured persistently for “The State” which sold an impressive 500,000 copies.
They then released their third album, “Silver Side Up.” Their hit single "How You Remind Me” reached the top of the Canadian Singles Chart and the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time, making them the second Canadian band to accomplish this. The band has sold over 12.5 million albums in the United States and over 1.5 million albums in Canada, their worldwide albums sales counted near to 20 million. The album, “The Long Road” arrived in 2003 and the single "Someday" shot to number seven on the Billboard charts. The album sold five million copies worldwide and was supported by another successful international tour. In February of 2005, Ryan Vikedal left the band but claimed he was pushed out for not being "the type of drummer" the band required. A month later, former 3 Doors Down drummer Daniel Adair was his replacement. In 2005, Nickelback released “All the Right Reasons” and has already sold more than 3.6 million albums in the United States and over 5.2 million albums worldwide.
